Introduction

 

So the disappointment has arrived and 2015 is finally in our hands and i have to say i'm some what heartbroken at the state of the game, don't get me wrong the new engine is amazing for some people but it just doesn't suit the way i want to play the game. I understand the joy for people who can now watch games in depth and enjoy the show the game offers but all i want is fast paced action and this new engine doesn't offer that, seriously if this new engine was the only option i would have packed my bags and left by now. Thankfully we do have a mode of play which suits my style alot better, all be it that it's just 2014 with a horrible and tacky new skin and i've paid £7 quid for the honour of an update and being SIs personal beta tester, seriously these bugs are getting worse and more obvious! All in all i'm very disappointed on a personal level towards 2015, just like i was last year, however i let it bother me with 2014 and i had a slow start to the year but i'm determined to start 2015 with a bang and on day three of the games life span i'm bringing you a goal challenge, typical me right? 

 

Back Ground

 

I've referenced this a number of times over the years but i have a note pad by my bad and a file on my PC full of career ideas i want to try out and this one has been on top of the pile for around two years now but i keep putting it off. The idea of the challenge is i have to take a striker of my choosing and lead him to score 90 goals, easy right? Well the catch is the aim of the challenge is to have the striker score one goal for every minute of the game, so i need to score a goal for every minute between 1 and 90 (91-120 are bonus goals). 

 

I duno what you guys will think about this idea but it's one i've always been excited about and i really hope you will enjoy it, the reason i keep putting it off is because it's going to be a nightmare to post! As you can imagine i need to sort hundreds of images ranging from club stuff and relating to the squad all while keeping track of what goals he's scored. I think i have a system in mind but if things look messy or awkward to begin with bare with me because i will get on top of it in the end. 

 

Why Now?

 

As i said this has been a challenge i've wanted to do for years but i've decided now is the time for two reasons, reason one is because the time of year has me extra motivated so i know i'll be willing to put up with the shit this type of update will cause and the second reason is i want to test the game and get the unlockables. When i say test the game though i mean test it in a way so i know what i can expect to be able to achieve during the rest of the year, my main worry since half way through 2014 was the game was going to break my favourite goal challenges like the 1kc so this career will allow me a look at the possibilities. If all goes to plan i'll get the needed goals and continue to claim my first 1kc of the year but that's along way away from my mind at the moment and i'm just delighted to be starting the year with a proper unique goal challenge which i think you guys will enjoy. 

 

Bugs!

 

You may have seen my post yesterday showing Vibe a bug which screws up historical results and as you can tell this is going to be a pain in the arse! Basically the bug doesn't show the name of the person who scored the goal, but if you click it it takes you to his profile so i know who scored them, thankfully it only happens some times.  Anyway this is where i'm going to need to ask you guys for some trust, i'll be showing every goal image needed for completion (if i get them anyway) but on some it might just be a time and no scorers name, if it's included it means my striker got the goal. This isn't ideal i know and tbh i'm very pissed off about such a stupid bug causing me problems but it gets worse, on some screenshots the goals have no time so i have no idea when it was scored so i've had to ignore them, now that could be costly! 

Everyone we are SI's personal bug testers!! We've had to pay 7 quid to test out this junk! Anyway let's continue until i go into rant mode and rip this game apart.

 

The Start:

 

I've actually had this career all set out in my mind for a month or two so i knew the second i got the game what i wanted to do, the only thing i didn't have decided was what club i wanted to start at. Ideally i wanted to do this new challenge in a new league and have something new for you guys on all levels but due to the stinking bloody pirates we've yet again missed out. As you may be aware i've struggled to find clubs in the last 4 months or so as i've been sick to death of every one of them and every league available, so when my hopes were smashed yet again i decided to stick with what i enjoy as i need to love this game fast or i won't at all. However there is another reason why i wanted to try out Portugal, as the striker in question is only available on one league loaded i knew i'd be stuck at my club of choice and this meant i could test out the new league development system. I have fears the challenge will end with me losing my striker yet at the same time the Portuguese clubs always do while in Europe so i thought it would be interesting to see if the league would develop enough that i could keep and sign anyone. Just a small side project for now but if it's not possible to achieve this in Portugal you have no chance in lesser leagues like Scotland. 

 

Basically everyone now knows i jumped on a plane and ended up in sunny Portugal, at first i thought about crashing with my good friend Graveluth but i've been Porto recently and i didn't fancy ripping that squad apart, even though i'm eager to use Quintero again. Then i got thinking about how interesting my previous favorite club in Portugal have become! Benfica sold off a lot of their squad in the summer window and a lot of quality left, i decided this would be a great starting point and it would add some spice to the challenge as i'd have to half rebuild my team and the chance to end the curse was too much to turn down! 

 

When the club was decided all i needed to do was sign my striker, as i said this was decided months ago and it meant i could jump right into the save! The striker in question is a player i've never actually used outside of small projects and he's a player i've always wanted to use, the problem was he's always been too main stream for me. However during 2014 he was spoke about a lot less and i was getting more and more eager to try him out and today is that day!

Nothing special to be honest, i just looked at the players i wanted to use and found a way to fit them all in. Once i know the limits of the game i'll spend time developing a tactic i want to use.

 

Conclusion:

 

The launch of the game was disappointing but i'm here now to give the game a chance in the hope i fall in love and i've really enjoyed what i've played so far, even if it is a re-skinned 2014. This is a challenge i'm really excited to get out there and i really hope you'll support this as you have all my other ideas as that really means the world to me and i'm sure your motivation will help me like the game more. I have nothing planned tonight so i might post the first part of this in a few hours, personally i'm in no rush and i know i'll be bored soon but your comments would tempt me to get this show on the road!

Good luck mate - think I'm with you in that I'll be sticking to the 2014 option, having the odd game where your keeper decides not to turn up is preferable to being excited when your team actually manages to score more than 2 goals in a game!

From what I played on the new engine I was doing well tbh, it was just taking too long and wasn't holding my interest.

My worry is this is obviously the way the series is going so unless the fans speak up about it sooner or later the engine will be the only one. I've said before that the community and more importantly the challenge community have grown bigger than FMH and now it's favouring the FM or casual players and us die hard fans are missing out on what we enjoy.

I generally find the whole situation depressing, I had to turn the PC off as I started to write down my feelings and as you can tell what I was writing about this game and series wasn't nice lol, I deleted so much content last year as I felt it was too negative, I duno if I can hold back this year.

Typical Sega, now I see how Sonic fans feel after games filled with gimmicks and bugs, when you have a working formula stick to it! Bring back 2013 I say

In a way, something like a difficulty setting would help - a game like FIFA can be a realistic sim where every game is close or an arcadey bit of fun depending on what setting it's on.

Do you think you'll post any careers using the new engine?

That's an interesting idea but it would ruin challenges and careers instantly as they'll be no level battlefield and in the end everyone would just use hard or w/e. In my somewhat selfish opinion FMH should be how it was on 13/14 then anyone who wants more has the PC version, now FMH has started to creep up to "boring" what do we have to play?

I wouldn't get your hopes up, I found it to long winded and boring, that is the reason why I've never made the jump to FM.

Yeah I 'll update as soon as I can get on the PC with time to spare, I managed to play more tonight though

Ashez Goes For A Goal A Minute

Season 1

Part 1

 

It's time for my first update but due to the amount of images needed as evidence and what not i've decided to post the first few seasons in two parts, as normal part one will cover the start of the season until January while the second update will cover the rest of the season and all the results and seasonal screenshots. Personally it's not a style i'm keen on but as alot of goals scored in these early seasons meet my needs i have little choice, so without any more messing about let's get on with the show.

 

The Transfer Window:

 

This will normally come in the end of season report due to January signings but i thought i'd show this one now so you can have idea of the squad i was working with.

 

 

A few more big name departures from Benfica as i recalled and sold Rodrigo while i also set Salvio packing. Rodrigo was sold because i wanted the money but mainly because i knew i'd end up wanting to use him over Fierro, Salvio was solid because i wanted to use someone different and from experience he's a tad goal hungry. I saw Valdes on the free agents list and i took a punt, the message said he wouldn't be interested but when i offered him the maximum i could he signed the dotted line and i became a very happy manager! The last signing was Bezus, i was originally looking for Garmash when i noticed Bezus and i thought he looked worthy of a risk, unfortunately it was money poorly spent but he had a good first season and he came in handy later on in the career. The image below shows some players i brought in on loan for cover and ones which i sent out for experience.

The group didn't go to plan at all and we really struggled to make a dent within the group, although part of me was happy that i'd have a chance in the Europa League as it's an easier competition which should result in more goals for my challenge

Well that's disappointing! I could have got an easier tie progressing in the Champions League!

I really enjoyed reading that! I'm sad to hear you don't like the new?engine as I enjoy it even though it slows down game play big time more than doubles time to do a season! But enjoyed this career?and is a great idea! Imagine what it will be like when there's only 5 or so minutes left to get and I'd say the extra time goals will be tough

UK: I like the idea of the new one but it doesn't suit me, I want to get things done not have to waiting ages to make a sub and so on, that stuff should stick to FM IMO, once he gimmick has worn off all your views will change . Anyway I'm also dreading if I get to the point where I only have a few left, I can see it getting frustrating fast lol. Thanks for the comment

Good start Ashez ... I'm with you, very interested to see how the dynamic league reputation will work and if it will make a noticable difference as seasons progress.

 

Also, personally I really prefer the 'original' match engine to the enhanced one. I can see the logic however to me the handheld version should be fast & furious, anything truly in depth there's always the PC! But still as long as the choice is there it can suit anyone !

Yeah while we have the choice is the key thing, we only have the option now as lower devices on the market can't handle the new engine, that means at some point down the line it'll be the new engine or nothing unless the community takes a stand and tells SI we don't want FMH as a FM! However I can also say it's not fair enough as myself and many others have spent our money on basically nothing, tbh it's a joke!
