2015 Stamina bug - a conspiracy theory

Has it occurred to anybody that the stamina bug is SI's way of getting us to shell out for the game editor, and not a bug at all?  I haven't, and won't, be buying it, so I wouldn't know. But it occurred to me.

The new update seems exactly the same to me. If anything, the player ratings - especially DM - are even more erratic and unreliable. I'm not sure what basis we're meant to play the game any more.

I find it very hard to believe that that would be the case - Marc and co have always been very clear that the in app purchases should never be necessary to play the game and the bug is so game-breaking that it's more likely to just drive players away altogether than get them to shell out for the editor.

I do, however, get the feeling that FMH has got to the stage where it is successful enough to attract the interest of the money men at SI and that, what was once Marc Vaughan's pet project, is no longer entirely under his control.

I get the distinct feeling that they were pushed to include the new match engine before it was properly ready and had to rush the game out without proper testing.

I'll admit the thought has crossed my mind but I don't believe it to be the case, however I completely agree with what Peely has said, this doesn't feel like Marc's game anymore! He used to always be here but recently Alari seems to run the show!

Oh, I'm half-joking.  But it's irritating.  Atari's reply to the stamina bug on the official forum was that it only happened to specific players in specific circumstances.  Which sounds to me like my mum saying "because" when I was 5 years old. And as for it having been there for years - I'm not sure I buy that either.  Like Ashez, I don't particularly trust them.

Now about the CIA beaming messages into my brain :-)

We can never underestimate the greed of Humans and something like what the OP said could well happen in the future. But I agree with the others that this conspiracy theory is probably not the reason behind the bug. :)

Still convinced that no matter the "scenario", we shouldn't see a depreciation in stamina that quickly and dramatically

Well i bought the editor and it further more ruins the game for me as when i boost a players moral using the editor it will then lower that players creativity Or up it to 20!

My goalkeeper has his creativity down to 1 and when i use the editor to put it back up to say for example 10 it will only put it up to 6 so i have to keep doing it so its hugely buggy

Also most of my team either has a creativity stat on red or at 20 so my whole team is messed up as i now dont know what my players stats should be naturally

Could be that in order to stop the stamina dropping we have to be more involved with training and keep it rotating rather than setting it to intense and leaving it there and if the said stamina of a player drops it forces our hand to replace them rather than building a incredibly strong team and waiting for regents to take positions over.

I bought the in game editor and wish I hadn't its been idle ever since the novelty wore of and that was fairly quick.

Yes possibly we do need tp change up the training to stop stamina dropping but I've personally tried putting some players on a fitness only training and had no results other than other important attributes dropping and stamina staying at a very poor level

People have reported that not using training still results in the bug. If it was intended and not a bug I'm sure SI would have said so and told us how to deal with it and not that they're working on fixing the bug ;).

Agree with Ashez - they've admitted it's a bug.  Besides, I haven't noticed training making much difference this time - I now have motivation on light, and I'm still being told that players are being overworked by the assistant manager.  And I've changed wingback from General to defending, and seen their tackling go down.

What does work in this year's game, I wonder?  The ratings system doesn't give you anything to go on as it's so unreliable; the tactics seem to have been reduced to what team you put out and the formation; player roles make no difference; the designated free kick takers aren't; the highlights are a procession of corners and free kicks; almost every evogen has low stamina, and that's not a bug. You can't change free kick  or corner takers in-game. I've been playing since November, and I've given up praising players because almost every time it saps their morale.

I will say that I use the default training schedules and have never experienced this bug-however enough people have shown evidence that it's a problem.

Same here default training but I gotta say I do seem to notice more stamina issues as I progress in a career.

Looks to me like after 12-13 seasons in and the majority of the database of real players have retired they're replaced by these bugs.

Seriously, in season 15 trying to rejuvenate the squad there's so few players with 'green' stamina in the market. Most are 10-12 at best and a whole lot under that which I won't dare sign.

It's definitely a bug - it hit CR7 on one of my saves, I immediately quit and reloaded the save from the day before the bug hit and he's been fine since.

If it was down to training regimes etc. then surely it would happen every time I loaded that save as I would have 'triggered' the bug criteria, and didn't change anything on the second load that was ok from the first.

Nah, I don't believe in conspiracy theories. :) I think the guys behind FMH are doing the best they can, but I also think the combination of a (probably) small developer team + tight time schedule + a lot of tempting ideas = not enough time for testing = flawed game upon release.

Also, I think it's a bit unfair to complain about the developers not caring enough etc (not in this thread though). I've never seen such involvement from developers in any other game. Seriously, you can e-mail Marc or Alari about whatever bug or question, and they will most likely get back to you in a few days. They participate in both this forum and the SI one. What else do you expect? They have acknowledged the serious bugs, and they say they are working on fixing them. Sure, they could have been more specific about what they had found and what they were actually doing, but understand there might be company "secrets" involved. They won't share details that might reveal how the game is made. A more detailed answer would also probably cause even more detailed questions and it would never stop.

I understand it is SI policy to release a new game every year. However, when the changes between versions are so small as they are, I wonder if it would have been a better idea to stick with FMH15 for a couple of years now. They could release patches, bug fixes and transfer updates while they also work on the next game in the series. When they have something that actually feels like a new game, then release it when it's finished. I'd be happy to keep playing FMH14 for two years straight if it worked as it should - no bugs, no weird match graphics, logic behind tactics, updated transfers. I don't need a new match engine I won't use anyway because every match takes ten minutes to finish.
