This will be my attempt at the Averaging Out challenge that I recently posted and what Ash and Maple are battling out to become challenge cup winners. I'll be updating this OP often :)

New Frickley Athletic manager Sam has been a complete laughing stock with the local press this week after revealing a plan to get the club to be European Champions in as little time possible.

Surely, the world class nature and supreme talents that currently find themselves in the Frickley squad have something to do with his confidence?

sNHjHuq.jpg

What?

Of course, the club's new trillionare owners must have supplied him with sufficient dosh to buy world class players to dominate through the divisions!

bN3VjBu.jpg

Hmm, no trillionare owners in sight.

After mumbling something about disliking players who perform over the level they should, Sam quickly left the room.

Having been promised trillions of pounds to spend in the transfer window, Sam was disgusted at the board's actions in giving him a minuscule amount of money to spend. Nevertheless, he managed to bag himself a squad of 30 including some players which he described as "Shadow players", which baffled the local press.

Frickley's couple of fans were delighted to stay unbeaten in pre-season, although they both got into trouble for away day trouble, in what super fan Dave described as a "mental away day".

It is rumoured the problems were caused at Worksop away.

August 2015

4 games gone in the season and Frickley are the top scorers in the league and still unbeaten.

wo7JX05.jpg

It's already clear to see that the team are performing better away from home with super fan Dave's support. Having been branded "a right nutter" by local security guard Ashez , other Frickley fan Janet, Dave's wife, boycotted the two home games in protest.

It's unclear to see at this moment in time whether this has anything to do with the dropped points at home.

The early parts of the season see the league table looking like this:

TIpXeBI.jpg

In a well documented spreadsheet produced by the local youth supporters trust, an official rating list was put together with how they think the players have been performing so far.

Igc66E4.jpg

Manager Sam had this to say about the start: "I think it's a good start. We've got a couple of arrogant sods in our squad getting all giddy about their praise from a local supporters trust. It's about time Connor Dean and Craig Bentley spend some time down in the reserves".

While Dave's at the away games I'm making sure Janet is secure ;). Dunno what she's up to when Dave and myself are at home games though :/.

September 2015

Another month goes by at Frickley Athletic this time as mad off the field drama takes over, obviously affecting the club on the field.

fdlBd2r.jpg

The tumble in form came when super fan Dave was ridiculed for being completely unaware that local security guard Ashez was having an affair with his wife Janet. It is rumoured that the pair of Dave and Ashez will no longer be attending Frickley games together, which could hinder the squad's results further.

There was a suggestion from a friend of the club's current manager, who is known as JustM1kePlays , that Dave should be given a game to take his mind off the behind-the-scenes action. Manager Sam admitted that because Dave is 17 stone overweight and enjoys a few naughty beverages he would fit in well with the rest of the current playing squad.

When asked about the current off-field drama, local journalist Dirtboy had this to say:

Interesting development...

The league table now looks a lot darker for Frickley:

tNPFV17.jpg

The youth supporters trust were at it again at the end of the month with their mystical "average rating" documents:

TyE5COq.jpg

Manager Sam talking to Dirtboy in his monthly statement: "A poor month to be honest not helped by the off the field action. Unfortunately Sean Harrison failed to turn up to the crunch cup clash against Havant & Waterlooville in a shirt and tie, therefore will be disciplined by spending some time in the reserves. Declan Phillips will also be punished in the same way for attempting to share a joke with me in training".

In other news, Dave has admitted he's got over the disappointment of Janet, and publicly announced his anger at the fact that Frickley have been drawn at home in the next round of the cup, hence missing out on an away day.

October 2015

A good month for Frickley Athletic as they focused only on the football without much off putting behind-the-scenes action. Before that though, manager Sam was supported by the locals for demoting Declan Phillips for sharing a joke in training, which they agreed was totally unacceptable.

9n6J3cr.jpg

An unfortunate exit in the FA Cup against higher league opposition and Frickley were leading 1-0 against Hednesford, the game was turned on its head however when right back Chris Rowntree was sent off for backchatting towards the referee in what was a second bookable offence.

These results see Frickley back where they want to be in the table:

Here are how the players have been performing, supplied by the now well cultured youth supporters trust:

X7xh8pO.jpg

Manager Sam : "Nice comeback month from us. We'll unfortunately be doing without Gavin Doherty and top scorer Nathan Day next month, after they failed to attend a players-fans signing session".

Fans Dave and Janet have questioned this decision as it appears the manager is only disciplining the best performing players in the squad. When looking at Doherty and Day's stats supplied by local statistician and massive Accrington Stanley fan Stuart, it appears that they could have a point, especially with next month starting with a crunch clash against top of the table Brackley Town:

November 2015

An unbeaten month from Frickley Athletic left manager Sam sticking his fingers up at Dave and Janet who had criticised him for demoting two of the club's star performers in the previous month. A key quote from this month:

JustM1kePlays : "Day and Doherty are not fit to wear the shirt until they pull there act together. They need to remember that without the fan the club is nothing".

A nice message of support towards the club there, however Janet is tempted to take action against JustM1kePlays , accusing him of sexism. It is rumoured that the word 'fan' used in his quotation, implied that Dave was the only real fan of the club.

4UhTQ89.jpg

Before discussing the action though, there was an accusation from fan Ashez , saying that shadow players have no passion, referring to Doherty and Day. None of the press really understood any of the conversation that followed, in which manager Sam explained that Gavin Doherty was in fact not one of these mythical 'shadow players' and was in fact very much real. There was also a word thrown around that one journalist thought sounded like 'evogen'.

Now, to the matches. The loss of the club's top scorer Nathan Day didn't affect Frickley as they banged in 12 goals in the first four games of the month, including a remarkable comeback from 3-1 down, with ten men, against then league leaders Brackley Town. There was also mass outrage when James Martin smashed in a hatrick in the 6-1 demolition of Worcester, yet only received an 8 out of 10 rating from statistician Stuart in the local newspaper, sent out the day after the game. The league table:

ZJsPa2A.jpg

All getting fairly tasty. When interviewed, the club's spokesperson, MerlionMaple96 was quoted about the season so far:

This is an absolute riot so far. Laughed my ass off all the way through. Loving it.

A strange interview!

Youth supporters trust player ratings:

Yr7RqyY.jpg

In what now seems to be a common theme, best two players Dominic Yates and Michael Ingham were demoted to the reserves. This time, it is reported this was the case after Yates and Ingham were caught signing Flo Rida's hit 'I don't like it, I love it' in a local nightclub, celebrating their hard-earned 0-0 draw against St.Neots, earning them a luxurious replay. The away trip was music to super fan Dave's ears.

Manager Sam : "All in all a solid month. Disappointed with the dropped points, however even more disappointed with the professionalism of two of our players. Although, it's sort of understandable for Michael; he doesn't get many clean sheets".

December 2015

Another solid month from Frickley which saw them only lose once in the league and progress past FC Halifax in the cup in what manager Sam described as a 'giant-killing'.  Heavy fixture congestion around Christmas was the cause of the 4-2 defeat to Lowestoft. In the most important news of the month, Dave missed his first game of the season against Lowestoft. Coincidence?

qaQwdMO.jpg

Home form clearly still letting Frickley down but some lovely wins in there see them close the gap on the top of the table. Remarkable considering all of the departures. As a reward of knocking FC Halifax out of the FA Trophy, all of Frickley's players have been treated to a 10% discount at the local curry house.

Still free-scoring.

Manager Sam: What is it about players playing well and then turning into arrogant idiots? We have a good month and then it's spoilt by James Martin and Mark Phillips turning up to training a minute late. Shocking. Reserves they go!

Current club top scorer Martin and captain Phillips expressed their disappointment at this decision, blaming the local lollipop lady, calling her a '******* ****head' for making them turn up to training late.

Frickley have released a club statement condemning their behaviour, and manager Sam has hinted that two players from the reserves will be re-promoted to the first team squad in the next few hours, after setting up a training camp last week at the beach.

Solid month! Shame Dave let us down though! Maybe he had enough of your players attitudes and distracted the lollipop lady? I can just imagine it now :p

January 2016

A shocking month for Frickley in which they only won one game and got dumped out of the FA Trophy. Manager Sam chose to recall Nathan Day and James Martin, although unfortunately Day showed no change in attitude and Martin risks being re-demoted too. Fan Ashez blamed this on Dave's love life, saying "Maybe he had enough of your players attitudes and distracted the lollipop lady?"

QAf6aXW.jpg

No real momentum and the home form is now really becoming an issue. Rumour has it that the players are now training on the pitch, to mess it up even further hence making it hard for the away team.

Remarkably after this month, Frickley are still well-placed in the league and are still the top scorers in what is a very tight division.

Nathan Day got a month long injury early on in the month. This was seen by the club's management as a deliberate attempt to hinder the club's results, so he will be demoted. In a remarkable turn of events, James Martin and winger Kenny Richardson are tied in rating, and after various small mister meaners throughout the month manager Sam has asked the locals who they think deserve to be demoted.

Manager Sam: "Please help me decide who deserves to be demoted by going along to the local curry house and casting your vote. The month was a joke, and the home form is certainly an issue. Statistician Stuart has dug out these stats to help you in your vote".

zwOCzgu.jpg

iFOnBCP.jpg

Martin: 18 goals, 7 assists

Richardson: 3 goals, 8 assists

It is rumoured that if the locals can't make their mind up, manager Sam will toss a coin to decide.

Please comment below with who you want to be demoted this month.

When will the manager see his methods aren't working! Are we meant to just sit here and let him destroy our club by demoting our key players? It's a joke!

Bye bye Martin ;)

February 2016

A largely inconsistent month from Frickley saw them drop out of the playoff places, and some fans, Ashez and Janet came together, not for the first time to protest against manager Sam. This protest occured at Brackley away, with banners reading 'We want our Frickley back' and 'Sam out'.

When asked about this after the match, Ashez was quoted saying: "When will the manager see his methods aren't working! Are we meant to just sit here and let him destroy our club by demoting our key players? It's a joke!" This came after the results of the curry house poll sent James Martin packing alongside Nathan Day.

ZEQnWP5.jpg

The only win of the month coming in a smash and grab at Barrow. The run without a home win now stretches  back to  November 18th. When asked why this could be the case, club spokesperson  MerlionMaple96 responded with: "Omg I'm the Club's spokesperson? Holy moly guacamole". With an expression on his face like this: :O The table now sees Frickley slide out of the playoff places.

XTqGZNQ.jpg

Still the top scorers in the league.

There's no surprise at all to find out Kenny Richardson was demoted for faking an injury at a key stage of the season. Lewis Heath was given the same punishment for joining in with the fan's protest at the end of the month.

Manager Sam refused to give a monthly statement, blaming this poor month on fans Dave, Janet and Ashez.

Sam out Dave IN

These were just a few of the comments made by fans, club representatives and general football fans around the Frickley area after the last month's results. Super fan Dave was getting a bit too carried away with UKFootballScore's comments, and almost got onto the team bus for the first game of the month, only to be kicked off by security. There was also a claim from Ashez that goalkeeper Steve Mildenhall was one of these 'shadow players', and seen as him and manager Sam seem to be the only people who know what these are, a letter was sent to Ashez with this picture in it:

6dyziYx.jpg

A good prospect for the future.

To the actual football now, and all the 'Sam out' brigade were left with egg on their faces as Frickley hit back from last month with a great month. Unfortunately there's an accusation of match fixing, as Frickley actually managed to win two of their home games this month.

sxpYCiV.jpg

A last minute penalty against Guiseley put Frickley up to 3rd in the league and that it where they stayed despite two shocking performances to end the month, and the 'Sam out' banners got another run out at the Bishop's Stortford away game. The table:

plXDSmW.jpg

All getting very tight in there for a playoff spot as 6 points separate 2nd-8th.

Player stats sponsored by Frickley youth supporters trust:

nv78FAR.jpg

In an unsurprising turn of events, Curtis Moore and Russell Roberts have been demoted to the reserves, rumours suggesting they bribed the supporters trust to give them better ratings, leaving Frickley with a squad of only 16 players now, which can't be good for the playoff push.

Manager Sam: Yeah it was a great comeback month. I wonder what the clowns who wanted me out have to say now! No comment on the demotions".
