2011 Manager Points

Ever wondered how did you get those manager points in your profile? Well, let's solve this mystery together!

So far, I have identified two sources of manager points:

1) Playing games

The bulk of your manager points probably comes from playing games. You need to actively play them - holidaying through games do not give you manager points, independently of the result. Friendly matches also do not award manager points, not even when playing with a national team. I have noticed that points are the same in all competitions - A draw against Bath gives you the same amount of points as a draw against Barcelona.

You get manager points after every game. These are the calculated factors:

P: Points

R: Result (win, draw or loss)

V: Venue (home, away)

GD: Goal difference

Here is the formula:

P = R + V + GD

P ≥ 0 - Points can't be negative.

R: Result

R is 3 for a win, 1 for a draw and zero for a loss.

V: Venue

V is 1 when playing away, and 0 when playing home.

GD: Goal difference:

Your goal difference is added to your managerial points.

Examples:

Losing a game

Losing a game always gives you zero points.

Drawing a game

A draw can have only 2 possible manager points outcomes:

  • 1 point for a draw at home
  • 2 points for a draw away

Winning a game

That's where the bulk of your points come from. Let's consider you won your last game away, 1-5. Remembering the formula:

P = R + V + GD

You have:

P = 3 + 1 + 4

P = 8

8 points, not bad ;)

Quick summary:

Loss = 0 points

Draw home = 1 point

Draw away = 2 points

Win home = 3 points + goal difference

Win away = 4 points + goal difference

2) Trophies & Promotions

Differently from games, you actually get these points when holidaying. I have identified very few competitions and their respective points award so far. Here are they:

Spanish Super Cup: 100 points

English Community Shield: 100 points *

Johnstone's Paint Trophy: 50 points

Promotion from League 2: 30 points

Promotion from BSP: 25 points

* Thanks to samhardy

So, if any of you knows how many manager points other competitions give, let me know and I'll add it here!

Feedback is always appreciated!

Nice :)

So, when you're playing that great cup final, do not forget to check your manager points before and after winning it and post it here!

Because Maths is fun.

But anyway, awful work here Rafa, what are you playing at? (Who's too polite now?) ;)

Nice analysis Rafa:

In case you were wondering about the competitions the points for them are worked out by:

Wining a Cup - Competition reputation * 10

Winning a Division = Reputation * 10 (or Reputation * 20 for top division)

Promotion = Reputation * 5

I don't have a list of competitions to hand I'm afraid to give you the exact reputations for each - but if you have FM to hand they'll be the same as is shown in that editor (remember FMH shares data with its big brother).

Not that I am aware of. I think the relevant question is the opposite, do the manager points affect the manager reputation?

Thanks for that Marc! I don't own FM11 for PC/Mac, but I can have an idea of the reputation of most leagues!

Sorry Rafa, but you don't get points every single game you play.

Sorry Conor, but everything I wrote is correct.

You get points for every game you play, except losses and friendlies.

Points after 2nd game:

I better convince some people/get some rep after I intentionally drew an easy win just to help...or I'll get madunsure.gif

Obviously. I've got the final and the semi finals of the Club World Cup on the same day...

I think it's 150 for both of them
